Sorry for getting so behind on posting. I was keeping count, just kept putting off writing the post. He will undoubtedly cross 3,300 next weekend. I am hearing conflicting reports on the closure of SWSA, from as early as April to as late as November. We're just kind of keeping watch and seeing what happens. The day it closes won't be so bad, it will be the next time we go to the park after that that will be tough...

Another week in which the numbers don't tell the whole story. Yes, I am disappointed that I only lost about a quarter of a pound this week. But...

Progress this week. Not quite a full pound, but losing nine tenths of a pound is surely a lot better than gaining weight. So, um, yay for me.

This is a case where the numbers don't tell the real story. I didn't blog last week, and I came very close to giving up on my weight loss altogether. After getting sick over Christmas and losing some ground, I completely lost it in the first week of January. I ballooned up to 287 lbs, I felt awful, and I was ready to throw in the towel.

Ah, the best laid plans. My goal for the past two weeks over the holiday was to make up some ground and lose 3 pounds instead of 2. That didn't so much happen. I got sick towards the end of the first week, and even when I was feeling better I didn't think it would be wise to push my luck and get out and bike or skate and risk a relapse. By the time I was feeling fully recovered, Ben was here for the rest of the week and I didn't have any opportunities to really exercise. So this week I gained back some weight, which is a real bummer.
Staying positive and looking forward, tomorrow things go back to normal and I'll be able to get back into a regular morning workout groove. Assuming I stay healthy I should start seeing progress again shortly.

I'm a bit late this week, what with Christmas and illness and all, but these numbers are accurate as of Sunday. Unfortunately, being sick for the last several days has not been especially conducive to getting my daily exercise. Kind of hard to go biking or skating when you are pretty much collapsed in bed sleeping off a flu-induced headache. So yeah, I don't really expect big things from week 21.

Guess what? I lost a pound this week. Yay! I"m on vacation the next two weeks, and I hope to use some of that extra free time to get out on the trail more often and maybe gain back some ground I lost in November. Right now I am one pound behind my goal pace, so I don't think it's unrealistic to shoot for three pounds in two weeks, right?

I am so much happier with this week's results. Not quite a pound but very nearly, and twice what I lost the week before. Where November seemed to be a pretty stagnant month, December is moving back into forward progress. Although I am a pound behind my overall goal, I feel very good about the progress I am making. The whole point of this effort is explicitly not to lose a whole bunch of weight quickly, rather the point is to lose a little bit of weight steadily over time. My hope is that by approaching the change gradually over a period of a year or two, I will be less likely to gain it all back.

Well, this is more than a little frustrating. I guess some progress still counts as progress, but it is feeling more and more like just spinning my wheels. Grr.
